Karla - The 2nd Century Chaitya Hall


It is extremely difficult to photograph the outer entrance to the Chaitya Hall at Karla because there are so many structures in front of it… and there would have originally been even more. The square holes carved into the stone in front of the cave's entrance probably connected to a wooden structure. There is a large well in front of the lion column (the girl in foreground is drawing water from it).
